The photos that you have always chased…

By Stuart

Everyone has them, the photographs that they have a burning desire to capture, a desire to take that moment and freeze it in time to keep forever.

So I am wondering, what photo(s) have you always wanted to capture but never had the opportunity? Are there any photos that you would travel around the world just to capture to chase that moment?

I am new to photography (as you all know) and so I guess I have not really had the opportunity to explore the photos that I wish to capture however I would *love* to be able to travel to Egypt and capture pictures of the elegant pyramids.

Anyhoo, I am curious to hear your thoughts, whether you are an amateur or a professional do tell!

Stuart ;)

I always like capturing something interesting or unusual someone or something is doing that tells a story. Then, I like to share it with others either through blogging or just posting the photos.

As for traveling, I was really impressed with the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur after seeing it on a movie. I took a vacation there and spent hours photographing it and exploring the building. To me, traveling and photographing any new destination would be a plus including the Pyramids.

My dream is to get a good lightening shot. I love thunderstorms more than anything, and I’ve always wanted to capture lightening in a photo.

@AVCr8teur – I have to say I am the same, the interesting or unusual is what interests me most (wow that was a mouthful). I have also been to KL and while in Malaysia saw fireflies, they were AWESOME.

@Rachel – That would be a tough one, and would require a lot of patience (or a lot of cameras firing constantly *hehe*), but would turn out a stunning shot.

@Erik – I had to look up what that was, for anyone else that is curious see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Machu_Picchu. It does look like it would be an awesome place to take photos.

I have been watching Rick Steves’ Europe on PBS a lot lately and I would love to go to the Irish countryside for a day of photography. Oh my goodness! Or to some of the old English castles. I just drool every time I watch that show.

Hi Jenera,
That would be lovely, oooh especially outside an English castle on a frosty morning with that ice on the grass (/me joins Jenra in drooling).

Would be cold taking that sorta photo tho *hehe*.

Machu Pichu looks amazing and mystical!! Good choice.

Not sure I have a photo that I have always wanted to capture – but I have always wanted to travel and do a photography book – one that provides unusal perspectives of iconic places we have seen in thousands of photographs. Plus whatever caught my attention ;)

Back to Machu Pichu, one of my mates put together a video of images – if anyone was intrested, it’s at: http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=9itmarjMXnU&feature=channel_page (LOOK LIKE A VERY INTERESTING PLACE!!).

Good luck with the photography.

Hi Manz,
That sounds like an awesome idea, it is funny that you mention that. I was speaking to a friend recently and they mentioned things like going overseas and taking photographs of things like the Eiffel Tower and other iconic places when there must already be millions of such photos in existance LOL.

Guess it takes a bit to stand out above the crowd. And thanks for the link, does look like an interesting.. nay *AWESOME* place.
Cheers

New Zealand has always interested me. With all the wild, untamed beauty – I bet it would be a photographer’s dream.

Never having traveled outside my immediate region though, I will just have to enjoy the beautiful images taken by others.

Great post – you have had some very interesting responses – they all sound like great places to visit – with a camera!

Hi KML,
Quite a few of my workmates are from New Zealand, and they say that the countryside is just spectacular. So I do have to agree with you there (especially after seeing some of the footage in the Lord of the Rings movie series too).

Hopefully one day you will get to travel far and wide and show us all your photos too. ;) .

I have a desire to capture an emotional moment between people. One that says everything without any words whatsoever. I don’t usually photograph people because of my own insecurities, but I still have the desire to get that special moment.

Other than that, I love catching birds and animals in movement.

I love to take pictures when we are backpacking in the wilderness but they don’t usually turn out as breathtaking as the scenery. Waterfalls, in particular. I wish my waterfall pictures were as lovely as the waterfalls.

@Margaret – that would be a tough one to capture but would be a stunning result if you could. And it is tough, because people often don’t like being watched much less photographed in such a personal moment.

@Marilyn – That is an interesting one, what sort of camera do you use? And I guess photos are never going to be as good as the real thing, but they can be unique in their own way… enhancing the memories so to speak.

@Shedlife – I can completely understand that, so often the world is filled with negativity nowadays, to capture that moment of someone smiling is just priceless.

@Shengy – What parts of nature do you like best? Flowers are always lovely but they can be overdone at times. I like the idea of waterfalls like Marilyn suggested.

I’ve always wanted to capture the moment of sneaking up on some unsuspecting person in the shower and snapping them really hard with a wet towel. You get some great candids that way.

Howdy Turnip *waves*,
OOOH LOL that is harsh, but would be pretty funny for the observer HAHAHA.

Do you go around snapping people with wet towels as a favourite pastime HAHA?
