Canon EOS 50D has arrived.

By Stuart

I have spectacular news. My swanky new Canon EOS 50D has finally arrived, I am only missing my final macro lens as Canon did not have it in stock.

However so far I have managed to get my hands on the following:

Camera: Canon EOS 50D

Lenses:

Accessories:

I decided to throw all this info up on the “My Photography Hardware” page so that if anyone is curious in future I will keep that list regularly updated with what hardware I am using (and have used in the past).

I also had my first photography class last week which was a real eye opener and has answered a lot of my questions that I have been wondering and there is still another 6 weeks to go. The tutor is bubbly and managed to keep all the content interesting and lively, even while going through the history of cameras and photography.

Our homework this week was to chose one or two of our favourite photos that we had taken at some point in our lives and bring them along to class next week. I am getting a couple of photos printed up at the moment so I will see how they come out. [EDIT] If you would like to see my homework that I have completed for this week with a short description I have put it up in my online gallery.

For now tho, I thought I would share photos of the new hardware with you.

Nice! Now, perhaps you could explain why your “Canon EOS 50D Savings Goal” is still at 45.3%? ;)

Mr Barden that is a great question and I am glad you asked… /sheds the gameshow host voice.

LOL I am technically still paying it off, (paying the money back into my savings) so I still have 54.7% of that to save up if that makes sense.
HEHE

Oh well, at least you have the camera – now don’t take too long paying it off, or you might not be able to buy drinks and food in the pub!

HAHA No should be OK, I mean I had the money just don’t like dipping into my savings so am now paying my savings account off LOL.

Hi Zoe,
Thanks, it has been terrible weather here lately so I have not been able to get out much. However today is a beautiful day so I am going out this afternoon to see what I can come up with.

Hi, just ran across your blog. You will love the 50D and 50mm 1.4, such a great combination! If you find the 50mm isn’t pretty sharp at 1.4-2.0 consider returning it for another though, it seems like there are some good copies and bad copies out there.

Hi Brett,
So sorry for the delay in replying, strangely my blog did not email me letting me know you had commented… Anyhoo!

I will keep that in mind however so far have not seemed to have any problems, just AWESOME shots and a great DOF.

Same camera I want to buy :) I’ve been using a 3.2mp point and shoot for my latest photoshoots.. haha.. But the photos surprisingly have been coming out real sharp!

Hi Tom,
Some point and shoots really can produce a stunning photo, (hate to sound like a broken record) but the Canon Ixus series get my thumbs up haha I still have my trusty one with me here.

And size (mp) isn’t always everything hehe… remember quality is always better than quantity.
